What is this ministry about?
Is it just for those raised in the plain culture,
or are any ladies of any flavors welcome?
We are a group of ladies, blessing and encouraging one another in the day to day hustle and bustle of life.
This podcast was inspired by the sharing of each other’s hearts in social media groups.
While this ministry reflects a Plain culture, every lady of every flavor is welcome here! Whether you’re single, married, mother, or grandmother, we hope we can openly and shamelessly shine light into each others’ lives, by opening our hearts to one another via this ministry. No topic too insignificant; We are all women of worth in God’s eyes.
Whether the lady’s topics are deep subjects or more lighthearted, let’s keep one another in prayer!
We will be avoiding doctrinal topics at this time.

Meet the Team
Shannon Gore Torkelson
Founder / Co-host, Owner
Shannon Torkelson is a native Floridian and met her Canadian husband at the age of sixteen. The 3,000+ miles that separated them during their friendship proved to strengthen the relationship they enjoy today.
Shannon and her husband (known as “Tick”), along with their two children (ages five and one), currently live on a farm in Florida. Shannon was converted and baptized at age thirteen. Her work experience includes cleaning jobs; hostess/carry-out and server; bakery/deli help; and working at a coffee warehouse.
When not caring for her family at home, Shannon can be found enjoying the Florida sun by boating on the Gulf of Mexico and snorkeling on the sandbars with family and friends.
Listening to dee-jays on radio stations in her early years kindled something inside, causing her to dream of becoming a dee-jay someday. In 2015, Shannon suffered the loss of her only sister, Jacinda (older by only one year), her step-dad, and a baby who was born too soon, all within eight months time.
Her sister, whom she shared a birthday with, was her cheerleader. The memory of the encouragement Shannon received from her is the driving force behind this podcast ministry today.
Ruth Bennett grew up in the mountains of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. She spent time serving with international missions in Taiwan and Israel, and spent three years teaching school in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. She is happily married to Ian Bennett. The couple recently transplanted to Florida from Dallas Center, Iowa.
Ruth grew up in a big family where she learned to enjoy interacting with a bounty of people through making meals and hosting guests in their home. Ruth is assisting in some of the preparation work involved in getting the podcast ready for production.
Rhoda Joy Yoder
Rhoda Yoder grew up in Sarasota, Florida, and became an Ohio transplant at the age of thirty-eight after marrying the love of her life, Sheldon. She and her husband adopted a sibling set of three from Guatemala, and are blessed with three grandchildren who are her constant joy and delight.
Rhoda enjoys gardening; digital scrapping; flower arranging; baking; decorating; and hosting. Her days are busy making deliveries to northern Indiana for their family business, Yoder’s Fine Foods.
Rhoda will be sorting through the many emails our ministry receives, ensuring that all of the information will be kept confidential. She looks forward to serving you as she works with the team.
Mary Sue Moss
Mary Sue Moss is a widow since 2015, mother to three, grandmother to fifteen and a great-grandmother to one. She enjoyed practicing as a registered nurse for twenty-seven years in a local nursing home and then changed careers at age fifty-two to become a full-time school teacher.
The joy of her heart is ministering the love of the Lord and triumph through trials. Through her seven decades spent in rural Iowa she has experienced infertility, adoption, the near-loss of a business, the disappointment of a rebellious teenager, the death of a 28-year-old son, and the cancer death of her husband.
Today she is retired and volunteers in prison and children’s ministries, opens her home to long-term and short-term guests, and loves to travel.
Social Media Coordinator
Erica Webb spent several years of her childhood in Belize which awakened in her a love of missions and other cultures. In May of 2015, she put away her traveling shoes to marry the love of her life.
As a twenty-seven-year-old, some of Erica’s favorite interest include animals, the outdoors, and spending time with family. She’s an advocate for the underdog, and is fiercely loyal to those she loves. Erica resides in upstate South Carolina with her husband Colton, and their gentle giant of a dog, Cooper.
