Rhonda’s Pizza and Breadsticks

“This is a family favorite. It can stave off any number of coups by young, disgruntled constituents and bring harmony that crosses both aisles. The Schrocklets Four have grown up on this. It has made an appearance on all manner of special occasions, and even their friends are fans of Mother’s pizza.”

Pizza Dough
• 1 c. warm water
• 2 T. sugar
• 1 T. yeast
• 1 T. oil
• 1/2 tsp. salt
Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Add salt and oil. Then begin adding flour 1 cup at a time until dough cleans side of mixing bowl. Tuck dough into sprayed/greased bowl and cover. Let rise.

I usually fill a jelly roll pan. For this, I use two 8-oz. cans of tomato sauce with 2 tsp. of pizza seasoning purchased at the local bulk food store. Then I top with all of our favorites. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. Remove; top with cheese. Return to oven until cheese is melted.

*For stuffed crust, I press dough up the edges and lay string cheese end to end, then press the dough back down and seal it. This is delicious.

I also use this recipe for breadsticks. I let it rise, roll into breadsticks, and bake. Then I brush them with melted butter that has a fresh garlic clove pressed into it. Lastly, I sprinkle them with kosher salt. They melt in your mouth.
